A day after Indian captain Rohit Sharma confirmed his availability for Mumbai's upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, another big Indian star has made himself available to play in India's top domestic tournament. He will be featuring in Saurashtra’s next Ranji Trophy fixture against Delhi which will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, on January 23. During the Champions Trophy 2025 squad announcement presser, India captain Rohit Sharma also emphasized the importance of taking a break from a hectic schedule in the face of pressure to have top players play domestic cricket.

On January 13, Saurashtra announced a 17-man team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy leg, excluding the seasoned all-rounder. However, considering the increased monitoring of India's players, it was previously speculated that he could make himself available closer to the game.
Following the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) appeal to all cricket players to give it their all in order to play in the remaining domestic first-class season, the decision was made. In January 2023, Jadeja took eight wickets in his final Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu, making a big impact. He played in three of the five Test matches during India's recent tour to Australia. Jadeja has amassed 7466 runs, including 13 hundred and 39 fifties while taking 542 wickets at an average of 23.88 in 135 first-class games.
Virat Kohli to miss Delhi vs Saurashtra game
Kohli's participation was contingent upon his availability, and the Delhi selection committee had originally selected a tentative roster of 22 players. The Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) president, Rohan Jaitley, was awaiting confirmation regarding the availability of the star batter, therefore the team, which was selected on Friday by the panel led by KP Bhaskar, was not formally revealed.
"Kohli has been advised to rest because of a neck sprain sustained during the final Test against Australia at Sydney. He is not available for the Saurashtra game. About the Railways game, which is also Delhi's last league encounter, we are still not sure," a senior DDCA official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The biggest stars, who are set to play in the Ranji Trophy are India skipper Rohit and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (Mumbai vs J&K), Rishabh Pant (Delhi vs Saurashtra), and Shubman Gill (Punjab vs Karnataka). Now, Jadeja has joined the list.
