The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon take a decision on hosting the T20 Asia Cup 2025. After the Pahalgam terror attack, the BCCI dismissed all possibilities of bilateral series with Pakistan. India and Sri Lanka are hosts of the Asia Cup 2025 but the BCCI will declare their stance in due time.
"As of now, I don't have anything to comment on Asia Cup but a call will be taken keeping everything in mind. We understand the current situation but to finalise anything about Asia Cup, it will take time. We will decide our stand in due time," a source close to the developments told Sports Tak.
When asked about whether India will go up against Pakistan in Asia Cup, the source said, "I don’t know. We need to sit and discuss."
Question mark over India's tour of Bangladesh?
Before the T20 Asia Cup, India are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a limited overs series starting August 17. The series includes three ODIs and as many T20Is.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh's retired army officer gave a controversial statement saying that Bangladesh will collaborate with China to occupy India's northeastern states if India retaliate to the Pahalgam terror attack by attacking Pakistan.
“If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy seven states of North-East India. In this regard, I think it is necessary to start a discussion on a joint-military system with China," Major General (Retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman said in a Facebook post.
However, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a media release distanced themselves from Rahman's comments.
"The comments do not reflect the position or policies of the government of Bangladesh, and as such, the government neither endorses nor supports such rhetoric in any form or manner," the statement read.
The source said that the board is yet to take a call on Bangladesh tour as well.
"We are keeping an eye on the developments in regards with India's tour of Bangladesh," the source said.
