Manishi equalled a big world record with his sensational six-fer

21-year-old left-arm spinner Manishi from Jharkhand ran riot with the ball with his historic spell during the Duleep Trophy clash between East Zone and North Zone on August 30. While playing for East ZOne in their quarterfinal match against North Zone, Manishi equalled a big World Record in the First-Class cricket by taking a robust six-fer the first innings, with all six dismissals coming via the LBW. This feat has etched his name in the record books, as he is now tied for the most LBW dismissals by a bowler in a single first-class innings.

Manishi wreaks havoc with sizzling six-fer, equals world record

Manishi is now the sixth bowler in the history of red-ball cricket to achieve this rare milestone. The first bowler to do so was England's Mark Ilott in 1995, when he dismissed six batters LBW for Essex against Northamptonshire. Notably, Manishi is the first Indian bowler to accomplish this achievement. Before him, other notable Indian bowlers, including Praveen Kumar, Harsh Dubey, Karn Sharma, and Saurabh Kumar, had come close to the record but didn't surpass it.

Bowlers to dismiss 6 batters LBW in an innings in First-Class cricket:

1 - Mark Ilott: Northamptonshire v Essex in 1995
2 - Chaminda Vaas: Southern Province v Western Province in 2004/05
3 - Tabish Khan: Khan Research Laboratories v Karachi Whites in 2011/12
4 - Ollie Robinson: Glamorgan v Sussex in 2021
5 - Chris Wright: Gloucestershire v Leicestershire in 2021
6 - Manishi: North Zone v East Zone in 2025

Manishi delivered a stellar performance after East Zone's captain, Riyan Parag, won the toss and elected to bowl first. The young spinner's dominance began immediately, as he took a wicket on his very first ball by trapping Ankit Kumar LBW. Manishi's masterful display of spin bowling continued as he systematically took down the opposition's lineup. He dismissed Shubham Khajuria, Yash Dhull, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Auqib Nabi, and Harshit Rana, with all of them falling victim to his accurate deliveries that resulted in LBW dismissals. Despite his historic six-wicket haul, North Zone still managed to post a significant total of 410 in their first innings.
