Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was at his acrobatic best at Lord's, London in T20 Blast 2025 clash on July 16. Williamson took a stunning catch near the boundary, running towards his left to dismiss Surrey's Jason Roy.
On the last ball of the seventh over, leg-spinner Luke Hollman pitched it up, wide off the stump. Roy who was batting on 1, went for the big shot over off side but Williamson ran to his left to take the catch. He did not let the ball out of his hand while sliding.
Despite Roy's early departure, Surrey managed to post 189/9 on the board. Will Jacks scored 52 runs from 36 balls, including five fours and a couple of sixes. Tom Curran helped Surrey accelebrate with a 22-ball 47. Tom hit seven fours and a six in his knock. For Middlesex, Ryan Higgins was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 33 runs.
Williamson departs cheaply
Exceptional with the ball, Williamson did not do well with the bat. In the run chase, he walked out to bat in the sixth over after wickets of Ben Geddes and Max Holden. He could not keep up with Stephen Eskinazi's tempo. In the 10th over, Williamson fell for a 13-ball 16. Coincidentally, Roy took the Kiwi batter's catch.
Electrifying cameos in vain
Skipper Leus du Plooy contributed with a 17-ball 29 before getting run out in the 13th over. Two balls later, Eskinazi fell as well. The opener hit six fours and a six in his 38-ball 53. In the slog overs, Higgins and Hollman's cameos went in vain. Higgins hit three fours and a six in his 18-ball 29. Hollman scored 32 runs from just 14 balls, hitting five fours and a six. But, Middlesex managed to post 181/6 and lost the match by eight runs.
