There were many rumors that the decision of Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal to move his base from Mumbai to Goa was part of a "coup" that was going on in the Mumbai local squad. A TOI article then stated that Mumbai's senior batsman and India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, was also expected to take the same route and move to a different state team. However, the report also stated that these reports have been rejected by sources close to the flamboyant batter.

Surya's reaction to the rumours

After that, Suryakumar Yadav sent a stern message on social media, denouncing rumors that he was leaving Mumbai to join Goa.

"Script writer hai ya journalist? Agar hasna hai toh I will stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Ekdum bakwas," wrote Surya from his official 'X' account

MCA reacts to the rumours

Abhay Hadap, the secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), also responded to the situation and put a stop to the rumors by saying "The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is aware of rumours circulating on social media regarding Surya Kumar Yadav’s alleged decision to move players to Goa instead of playing for Mumbai"

"MCA officials have spoken with Surya this morning and can confirm that these rumours are completely baseless and untrue. Surya Kumar Yadav remains committed to Mumbai and takes immense pride in playing for Mumbai. We urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation and to support our players as they continue to contribute to Mumbai Cricket Association," he added.

Since his early days as a junior cricket player, Suryakumar has represented Mumbai. In 2010, he made his senior team debut in all three forms, and he has continued to play for them when he is not on international duty. With 5392 runs in 77 games at an average of 44.93 and 13 hundreds, he is Mumbai's third-highest run scorer in Ranji Trophy history.
