Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has penned down an emotional note wishing Virat Kohli to come out of Test retirement. Notably, Kohli announced his Test retirement on May 12 after a dismal performance against Australia in the five-Test match series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
He failed to continue the momentum after smashing an unbeaten century in the opener clash, and he managed to score 190 runs in five Tests. Sidhu took to his Instagram to share an emotional message to make him play cricket.
“If God granted me a wish, I’d say bring Kohli out of his retirement & make him play Test Cricket …. Nothing would give more joy and ecstasy to a country of 1.5 billion! His fitness is that of a twenty-year-old – he himself is 24 carat gold," Sidhu wrote.
Kohli's Test career
Kohli has represented India in 123 Tests, where he scored 9,230 runs at 46.85, with 30 centuries (including 7 double hundreds, a record for India) and 31 fifties. Under his captaincy, India defeated Australia on their home soil and became the first Asian Team to win a Test series on their soil.
