The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on May 9 decided to shift the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 matches to the UAE due to the ongoing military confrontation with India which made foreign players consider leaving the country.

In total, eight matches of the PSL 2025 are left to be played, including the qualifiers and the final. So far, the schedule of the rest of the tournament is yet to be announced. PCB said that the schedule will be finalised and shared in due course.

Meanwhile, the PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi claimed that the strike at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium was intended to disrupt the PSL 2025. It led to the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at the Rawapindi stadium getting called off.

However, on May 8, the Indian defence ministry clarified that their tagets were air defence radars and systems. It was done in retaliation to Pakistan attempting to target 15 places in northern and western regions in India on May 7 night and May 8 early morning. All of these attempts were thwarted by the Indian Air Force.

"...in view of the extremely irresponsible and dangerous Indian act of targeting the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which was manifestly done to disrupt the ongoing Pakistan Super League X, the PCB has decided to shift the remaining matches to UAE," Naqvi claimed.

The PCB chief further added that the decision to shift PSL 2025 was done to ensure the mental well-being of all players involved.

"As a responsible organisation that has overcome adversities repeatedly and ensured that the game of cricket flourishes, it was important for us to ensure the mental well-being of all players participating in the PSL," he said.

Earlier, there were reports in the British media, that the foreign players participating in the PSL 2025 were anxious. They wanted to leave the country due to secrurity concerns.
