India men's cricket team's head coach Rahul Dravid's son, Samit has been picked in Karnataka's 15-member squad for the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy. The Under-19 tournament which will be hosted in Hyderabad will commence on October 12 and end on October 20.

Soon-to-be 18-year-old Samit had played for Karnataka in the Under-14 tournaments. Samit will be playing under the captaincy of Dheeraj J Gowda. Dhruv Prabhakar has been picked as Gowda's deputy for the tournament.

The former Indian skipper had represented the state team at U15, U17, and U19 levels as well before he made his Ranji debut in the 1990/91 season.

However, he won’t be able to watch his son play in the tournament as the Rohit Sharma-led side will look to win the ODI World Cup trophy after a gap of 12 years.

In the third ODI, skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav will return as India will field a strong XI against the Pat Cummins-led side before the warm-up games for the marquee event.
