Ravindra Jadeja has now become the ultimate Test all-rouder of all time

Ravindra Jadeja has notched a record of reigning supreme as no.1 Test all-rounder with longest streak

India's Ravindra Jadeja has stormed into the history books as he has achieved a milestone which no other all-rounder could taste since the inception of cricket. The left-handed maestro has now held the coveted number one ranking for all-rounders in the ICC Test Rankings for an unprecedented stretch.

Jadeja has reigned supreme at the top of the ICC all-rounder rankings in Test cricket for a staggering 1,151 days. In doing so, this stellar performer from the India National Cricket Team has surpassed legendary figures such as Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev, and Imran Khan, all of whom are celebrated as the finest all-rounders the sport has ever witnessed. Having ascended to the pinnacle of the rankings on March 9, 2022, by overtaking Jason Holder, Jadeja has consistently delivered exceptional performances with both bat and ball. His outstanding contributions continued through the previous year, culminating in his inclusion in the ICC Test Team of the Year for 2024.

In that period, Jadeja proved his versatility by amassing 527 runs at an impressive average exceeding 29, while also claiming 48 wickets at an equally impressive average of around 24. His pivotal contributions were instrumental in India's series victories against England and Bangladesh, and his bowling prowess was also on full display against New Zealand.

Since March 2022, Ravindra Jadeja has maintained an exceptionally high standard of performance in Test cricket. In the 23 Test matches played during this period, the accomplished all-rounder has accumulated 1,175 runs at a commendable average of 36.71, including three centuries and five half-centuries. His prowess with the ball has been equally impressive, having taken 91 wickets at an outstanding average of 22.34, which includes six instances of taking five wickets in an innings and two instances of taking ten wickets in a match.

Interestingly, this current reign at the summit of the ICC all-rounder rankings marks Jadeja's second stint in this coveted position. He initially reached the top spot in August 2017. However, his first tenure was brief, lasting only a single week.

Presently, Jadeja commands the ICC rankings with a formidable 400 rating points. His remarkable consistency has enabled him to maintain a significant lead over other prominent all-rounders such as Bangladesh's Mehedi Hasan Miraz, South Africa's Marco Jansen, and Australia's Pat Cummins.

An indispensable component of the India National Cricket Team's Test setup, Jadeja is often hailed as the team's Most Valuable Player. His exceptional contributions with both bat and ball have been instrumental in securing numerous memorable victories for the team, both on home turf and in overseas conditions.

Fans will next see Jadeja in action when India will take on England in the five-match Test series which will kick off from June 20. With the recent retirements of seasoned players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja's role will be crucial for India.
