Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman is likely to become the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) head. A source in Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told Sports Tak that they were in constant talks with Laxman for the post and the former Test specialist has now finally agreed to take the role.

“We were in constant talks with VVS we wanted to have someone who can take the responsibility in a better way after Rahul Dravid that's Why VVS is the priority we had several rounds of talks with him initially he doesn't want to join but now he is ready to join announcement will be made soon,” a close source from the BCCI revealed.

The post for the NCA became available after the former NCA head, Rahul Dravid was roped in for the role of the head coach of the Indian cricket team replacing Ravi Shastri. Dravid had groomed a lot of young Indian cricketers including Rishabh Pant, Prithwi Shaw and Shubman Gill and others during his tenure as NCA head.

Moreover, if this happens, Laxman will have to leave the role of the mentor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to take up his new job. In addition, he will have to pause his commentary career as well.
