New Zealand batting great Kane Williamson lauds former India Test captain Virat Kohli for his contributions to cricket. Williamson, who scored 9276 runs in 105 Tests, reckons that Kohli is probably the greatest all-format player in the last 15 years. Kohli, who has announced his Test retirement in May 2025, shares a great bond with the New Zealand star. 

During Day 3 of the third Test match between India and England, Williamson, who is a presenter, lauded Kohli for his contribution to the gentleman's game. 

"And then obviously Virat, know,  probably the greatest all-format player that we've seen for probably in the last 15 years, you know,  and has his own challenges, right? And an absolute cricket-obsessed country, and he's been at the top of that three and made the game. look at, there's great sort of relationships and friendships with all of them in slightly different ways. and stay in touch in a lot of ways as well. But yeah, not really that sort of competitive thing. You're just in a team that you're wanting to compete as a team and do all those sorts of things" said Kane Williamson.

Kohli is one of the greatest Indian captains to lead the side in whites. Under his captaincy, Team India became the first Asian side to win a series in Australia. Kohli, who announced his Test retirement on May 12 after playing 123 Tests, scoring 9230 runs, including 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries.

Before calling it a day in the longest format of the game, Kohli has announced his T20I retirement in 2024 after the team's T20 World Cup 2024 win, defeating South Africa in the final. 

Coming back to the third Test, Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer produced edge-of-the-seat spells before KL Rahul’s classy unbeaten fifty put India very much in sight of England’s 387 on day two of the Lord’s Test. The five-Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 is currently tied 1-1 after India's dominating win in the second Test.
