India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav opened up on Pakistan's decision to boycott their T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India, which is scheduled to take place in Colombo. Notably, Pakistan has decided to boycott their T20 World Cup clash against India in solidarity with Bangladesh who are replaced with Scotland in the marquee event.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 opener, Suryakumar Yadav mentioned that Team India's mindset is clear because they have not said no to playing against Pakistan, and the side will travel to Sri Lanka as per their original schedule thay have booked tickets.
"Our mindset is very clear. We haven’t said no to playing them, they are the ones who’ve said no. Our flights are booked and we are going. Our fixtures are ready first USA, then Canada and then we are off to Colombo" said Suryakumar Yadav on captains meet in Mumbai.

Why is Pakistan boycotting the India clash?
Pakistan have called for a boycott of their T20 World Cup 2026 match against India to show support for Bangladesh, who were recently dropped from the tournament.

Bangladesh were removed after they refused to travel to India, citing security concerns. The ICC held several meetings with officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to discuss the issue. After reviewing the situation, the ICC said the security risk was low and similar to what teams face at most major international sporting events.
Since multiple discussions had already taken place and the tournament schedule was finalised, the ICC decided to exclude Bangladesh from the competition. Scotland have been named as their replacement.
According to the schedule, the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match is set to be played on February 15 in Colombo.
