Chris Broad shed light on his son, Stuart Broad's evolution from being known primarily as a batter to the bowling sensation recognized globally today. Stuart's introduction to the world of professional cricket began in 2005 with his debut in England's first-class and List A cricket.

By 2006, the dynamic player was already representing England in ODIs and T20Is. His significant leap into Test cricket happened in 2007 during a series in Sri Lanka with Michael Vaughan as the captain.

In a chat with BBC East Midlands Today, Chris elaborated, "He started off as a batter but Leicestershire saw he had the ability to bowl and he grew into this guy who was 6ft 6ins who was able to get it down the other end quite quickly. It was his control, line and length that was impressive - right from the start."

The cricketing world recently witnessed Stuart's departure from international cricket after an illustrious 17-year career post the final Test at Kennington Oval, London. His career boasts a whopping 847 wickets, inclusive of 38 four-wicket hauls, 21 instances of five-wicket achievements, and three occasions where he secured 10-wicket hauls.

Chris proudly stated, "Right from the time he played first-class cricket at Grace Road through to The Oval he has loved every moment of playing a sport that so many others would love to play as well - and loved to be playing at the highest level."

He further added, "Very quickly after playing for Leicestershire he was playing for England and he never really looked back. It's an astonishing, immediate rise and something he has maintained for all those years - it's quite remarkable."

On the batting front, Stuart's skills shone through, particularly in the lower order. With 167 Test matches under his belt, he scored 3662 runs, averaging 18.03, and has one century and 13 fifties to his credit. A notable highlight was his 169-run innings against Pakistan at Lord's Cricket Ground in August 2010. Additionally, in the realm of first-class cricket, this left-handed player amassed close to 6000 runs.
