Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan on November 21 (Monday) created history and set a new world record in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh. The right-handed batter became the first batter in history to smash five consecutive centuries in List-A cricket. The 26-year-old is in a scorching form in India's premier 50-over domestic tournament in 2022. The stylish batter celebrated his achievement by smashing a double hundred in just 114 balls on Monday. Before the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Jagadeesan had only three List A hundreds. He now has eight centuries to his name.

Jagadeesan has set a new world record after equaling the record of Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Petersen and Devdutt Padikkal in the previous match. Also, no batter in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy has scored five centuries in a season and the Tamil Nadu batter is now the sole owner of that spectacular record. Jagadeesan has formed a lethal opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan for Tamil Nadu, who also smashed a century against Arunachal Pradesh. Jagadeesan was released from the Chennai Super Kings' squad recently. He played two IPL matches last season.

Jagadeesan was batting on 231 runs off 123 balls with the help of 21 fours and 12 sixes at the 36.2 overs mark.
