Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan on November 21 (Monday) created history and set a new world record during Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh. The right-handed batter became the first batter in history to smash five consecutive centuries in List-A cricket while he also registered the highest-ever individual score in white-ball cricket. The 26-year-old, who is in scorching form in India's premier 50-over domestic tournament in 2022, played a stunning knock of 277 runs off 141 balls. During his historic knock, the stylish batter powered 25 fours and 15 sixes and annihilated Arunachal Pradesh's bowling attack at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Tamil Nadu batter broke Alistair Duncan Brown's 20-year-old record while he also left India captain Rohit Sharma behind.

Here's the list of highest individual scores in List-A cricket:

N Jagadeesan (Tamil Nadu): 277 vs Arunachal Pradesh, 2022

Alistair Brown (Surrey): 268 runs off 160 balls vs Glamorgan, 2002

Rohit Sharma (India): 264 runs off 173 balls vs Sri Lanka, 2014

D'Arcy Short (West Australia): 257 runs off 148 balls vs Queensland, 2018

Shikhar Dhawan (India A): 248 runs off 150 balls, vs South Africa A, 2013

Before the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Jagadeesan had only three List A hundreds. He now has eight centuries to his name. Jagadeesan has set a new world record after equaling the record of Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Petersen and Devdutt Padikkal in the previous match. Also, no batter in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy has scored five centuries in a season and the Tamil Nadu batter is now the sole owner of that spectacular record. Jagadeesan has formed a lethal opening partnership with Sai Sudharsan for Tamil Nadu, who also smashed a century against Arunachal Pradesh. Jagadeesan was released from the Chennai Super Kings' squad recently. He played two IPL matches last season.

So far in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, Jagadeesan has scored 799 runs in six innings at a mindboggling average of 159 and with the help of five centuries.
