Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar believes that KL Rahul will score big in the upcoming second Test against West Indies as he is well aware of the conditions at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. He pointed out how Rahul played f or the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and was quite successful while batting on the Delhi pitch.
"Not technique, thought process. He plays the IPL from there. So he knows those conditions well. He scored more than 500 runs in the IPL. He knows how to score runs in Delhi at the Ferozshah Kotla (Arun Jaitley Stadium). However, I believe the biggest change is in the approach. He would want to convert that approach into bigger runs," Nayar said on Star Sports.
Nayar also feels that Rahul's hunger for runs won't be satisfied with the century that he scored in the first Test against West Indies. He further pointed out how important it is for the batter to maintain his form and keep on scoring runs. Notably, Rahul had ended a long wait to score a century on Indian soil in the previous match and had registered his 11th century in the format. However, he wasn't able to go any further and got dismissed for exactly 100 runs during the second day.
"He was disappointed. He got out on 100, but he had a chance to score 150 or 200. He knows he has scored runs after nine years. However, when you have form, maintain it, and keep scoring runs. His hunger will not be satiated. We know he is the kind of batter who, once he starts, he doesn't stop, reaches the fifth gear, and stays there. So the expectation and hope is that KL Rahul carries this form and runs forward," Nayar stated.
