Story Highlights:

Abhishek Nayar doesn't want Jasprit Bumrah to play in 2nd West Indies Test

Bumrah had picked up 7 wickets in the first Test

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar feels that the team management shouldn't play Jasprit Bumrah in the second Test against West Indies as it will only increase his chances of getting injured. Bumrah had featured in the first match of the series and had picked up a total of seven scalps. He is expected to play the second match as well after current assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had stated that they are unlikely to change their bowling combination from the first Test.

Nayar highlighted how India have the Test series against South Africa in November and the T20 World Cup early next year band stated that Bumrah deserves to rest before these assignments.

“I think Bumrah is going to play this Test. The way the team has been selected without Bumrah for the ODI series against Australia, it seems India wants to win this Test against the West Indies with a good margin, which is important for the WTC. Personally, I believe Bumrah should be rested because he’s extremely valuable. After this series, we have another Test series and then the T20 World Cup. I’d like to see him get some rest, but it looks like he won’t and will play this match," Nayar said, speaking on JioStar.

Bumrah picked for Australia T20Is

Bumrah hasn't been included in India's squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, but has been picked for the five-match T20I series included in the same tour. The 31-year-old was recently seen in action during the Asia Cup, but he wasn't able to perform at his best and finished with seven scalps in five matches. It remains to be seen if he improves against the Aussies.

Meanwhile, India will be aiming to complete a clean sweep over West Indies as they take the field at the Arun Jaitley stadium on October 10. The Men in Blue had won the first match comprehensively by an inning and 140 runs and will be looking to continue this form in the final game of the series as well.
