India need 121 runs to win the second Test

After India enforced follow-on on the West Indies during the third day of the second Test, it looked as if the visitors would   succumb to another one-sided defeat, however their batters went on to put up a fine performance in their second innings. Though the side lost Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze early in the innings, it was the duo of John Campbell and Shai Hope, who led West Indies' fight back.

Campbell and Hope tear apart Indian bowlers

The duo smacked the Indian bowlers all around the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi and piled on runs as West Indies got closer to nullifying the follow-on and take the lead in the match for the first time. The duo of Campbell and Hope formed a massive partnership of 177 runs and looked to be quite comfortable on the crease throughout their respective innings.

Campbell went on to reach his maiden Test hundred during the opening session of Day 4. This was only the second international ton for the left-hander and it couldn't have come at a better time for the West Indies. Though he would soon go on to lose his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja for 115 runs, Hope continued his domination against the Indian bowlers. The latter went on to reach triple figures during the second session as the visitors finally took the lead.

However, Hope wasn't able to go too far after reaching his century and was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 103 runs, leaving West Indies on 271/4. Following the fall of this wicket, the visitors would go on to lose their next five batters in quick succession and this saw them get restricted to 311/9. Just when it looked like the Men in Blue would get their remaining wicket soon, the duo of Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales went on to form a robust partnership and took the Windies over the 350-run mark. They also carried their team to a lead of over 100 runs, immensely frustrating the Indian bowling attack.

Greaves and Seales frustrate India

The partnership would eventually be broken for 79 runs as Seales lost his wicket to Jasprit Bumrah for 32. This wicket saw the visitors get bundled out for 390, setting up a target of 121 runs for the hosts in the final session of Day 4. Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav were both the top performers for India in the bowling department and finished with three scalps each. The hosts now have a golden chance to do a clean sweep over Roston Chase & Co. as they have a modest target at their hands and will be aiming to achieve it as soon as they can.
