In an high octane drama Mumbai Indians (MI) lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) as Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to bat first in the Women's Premier League's (WPL) grand final at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (March 26).
While MI's skipper Harmanpreet Kaur played the unchanged side, DC brought in Minnu Mani in place of Poonam Yadav.
“We were looking to bowl first, so the toss is not going to affect us. I think the wicket will swing, it looks hard. We need to stay positive, the last game was important and we got a lot of confidence after that. They have a good batting line-up, we need to bowl well tonight. We are going with the same XI,” Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said after the toss.
“We are going to bat. It looks a good wicket, we are backing ourselves tonight. We had a good time, relaxed for a few days. We are up against Mumbai tonight. Spin has played a big role here. The bowlers have been effective throughout the tournament. Minnu Mani comes in for Poonam Yadav,” DC captain Lanning said after winning the toss.
Pitch Report
The weather looks perfect, the square boundaries are shorter as compared to the straighter one. The bowlers can get some seam movement on this wicket, they need to drag their lengths in order to trouble the batters and nick them off. Spinners have picked more wickets at this venue as compared to the pacers. But looking at today's wicket, even the pacers have something in it for them.
