The defeat against UP Warriorz knocked out RCB from the WPL 2025

UP Warriorz's Georgia Voll made a big impact in WPL 2025 with her arrival just a week before as a replacement for Chamari Athapaththu. Despite the brief period, Voll has quickly established herself as a key player. In a stunning display of batting prowess during her third appearance, the 21-year-old Australian delivered an unbeaten 99 off 56 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Her explosive innings, played in the final match of the Lucknow leg, propelled UP Warriorz to a record-breaking total of 225/5, the highest ever in WPL history. UP Warriorz ended up pulling off a 12-run victory to knock out the defending champions RCB.

The match itself was a rollercoaster ride of dramatic shifts in momentum. Richa Ghosh's blistering 69 off 33 balls and Sneh Rana's rapid 26 off just six balls kept RCB firmly in contention until the very end. Even after Ghosh's dismissal in the 17th over, Rana's aggressive batting seemed to tilt the scales in RCB's favor, particularly when she helped them amass 28 runs in the penultimate over bowled by Deepti Sharma. However, UP Warriorz managed to maintain their composure, ultimately securing a narrow victory.

UP Warriorz's dominant performance, while arriving too late to secure a spot in the Eliminator, significantly impacted Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) playoff aspirations. The defending champions are now facing elimination after their final league match in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Warriorz's innings began with an explosive start, as Georgia Voll and Grace Harris aggressively attacked the new ball, propelling their team to 67 runs without loss in the first six overs. It took a run-out to break the formidable opening partnership of 77 runs between the two Australians. Buoyed by this strong foundation, Kiran Navgire capitalized on the momentum, unleashing a rapid 46 runs off just 16 balls, including a 22-run onslaught against Renuka Singh in the 12th over.

Facing a bowling attack that struggled with consistency, offering numerous scoring opportunities, Voll showcased her versatility and skill. She displayed a wide array of shots, seamlessly executing cuts, drives, and both conventional and reverse sweeps.
