In a monumental move, England captain Harry Kane has officially transitioned from Tottenham to join the ranks of Bundesliga titans, Bayern Munich. Kane made his way to Germany for a medical check-up on Friday evening, and by Saturday, Bayern Munich had made the announcement: Kane had committed to them until June 2027, taking the coveted number nine jersey.
Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Bayern, Kane remarked, “I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality – it feels very good to be here.”
Leaving Tottenham wasn't easy for Kane. Taking to social media just before the deal's official announcement, Kane shared heartfelt sentiments: “I wanted to be the first to tell you Tottenham fans that I’ll be leaving the club today. Obviously a lot of emotions going through me right now; sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my life at, from 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man now.”
He reflected on the invaluable memories, expressing gratitude and emphasizing the importance of moving forward. “I felt like it was the time to leave. I didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unresolved future talk,” he added, expressing his wishes for the team's success under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou had hinted at Kane’s move on Friday, mentioning that a major negotiation breakthrough between Tottenham and Bayern Munich had been reached on Wednesday night.
Subsequent details reveal the financial aspect of the transfer. Bayern is set to pay an upfront amount of £100m. However, with the inclusion of add-ons, the total transfer cost could potentially soar to a whopping £120m, as understood by PA news agency. This monumental deal underscores Kane's value and Bayern Munich's commitment to excellence in the football world.
