The game took place at Atletico Madrid's home Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Alexander Sorloth scored the first goal in the match at the 23rd minute, giving an early lead to the hosts. In the 36th minute of the game, Club Brigge's Joel Ordonez equalised the game to keep the game alive.

Atletico's star midfielder, Johnny Cardoso reclaimed the lead with a clinical finish in the 48th minute.

Later, Sorloth completed his hattrick by scoring in the 76th and 87th minute of the clash, completely dashing the hopes of Club Brugge for a comeback.

After a dramatic draw in the first leg, Sorloth's hattrick guaranteed a qualification for the Round of 16 stage of the competition.
