Barcelona are facing tough competition for the signature of former Leganes player Yan Diomande from Premier League teams. Currently playing for Leipzig, Diomande has seen his stock rise at the club and has performed well in his debut campaign.
Barcelona's pursuit for Yan Diomande
In November, Bild claimed that Diomande had caught the attention of Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and was a player the Spanish giants are monitoring. However, the latest development suggests that the young winger has other admirers apart from Barcelona.
As per Florian Plettenberg, Yan Diomande is on the radar of Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and other Premier League teams. However, there are no solid talks taking place between the player's camp and any other team. The 19-year-old's contract doesn't have a release clause in it, and as such, Leipzig will seek a fee of over €100 million to sell the player.
In just 15 games so far this season, Diomande has scored 11 goal contributions and sits joint-sixth in the Bundesliga scoring chart. He joined Leipzig from CD Leganes last summer for a reported fee of €20 million, and his current market remains the same, according to Transfermarkt.
Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez responds to Barcelona transfer rumors
Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez has once again addressed rumors associating him with a move to Barcelona. Robert Lewandowski, who is currently Barcelona's main striker, has seen his future thrown into doubt, with reports claiming that he will leave the side at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Last month, Alvarez admitted that he was aware of the rumors linking him away from Atletico on social media and refused to rule out a move from the Spanish capital. In his latest interview with Marca, he Argentina international reiterated the same thing, saying that is not thinking about the transfer talk. He said:
“Look, it doesn't bother me. I try not to pay much attention, but I know what's being said. It's all over social media. I think it's more what's being said online than what's actually happening. I'm very focused on this season, on what lies ahead with Atlético de Madrid. So, I try to tune it out and think about myself, about continuing to grow as a player, and about winning.”
Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in 2024 and has cemented himself as a vital cog in Diego Simeone's squad.
