Barcelona star believes a Blaugrana player deserves the prestigious honor this season.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has made a shocking claim on the Ballon d'Or award. He has said that a player from Barcelona deserves the award this season given the performance they gave last season.

Lewandowski famously missed out on the Ballon d'Or in 2020 as the ceremony was cancelled due to Covid 19. He was the front-runner to win the award at that point of time but he won The Best Men's Player in both 2020 and 2021.

In an interaction with El Chiringuito TV, the Barca forward reflected on the Ballon d'Or and labelled it as a commercial award. He noted that the award is driven by politics and 'The Best' is the fairer accolade. He said, as quoted by El Chiringuito Tv on X:

"The Ballon d'Or? It should be won by someone from Barça."

The forward added:

"It's a more commercial award... The Best is fairer."

Barcelona enjoyed a great 2024-25 season as they won the domestic treble i.e. the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana. They also reached the semi-finals where they lost 7-6 against Inter Milan on aggregate.

Four players from Barcelona have found place in the Ballon d'Or nominations. The list consists of Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Raphina, and Lamine Yamal. Yamal and Raphine have been picked among the front-runners for the award.

Lewandowski has been amazing since joining Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022. He has produced 101 goals and provided 20 assists in just 147 matches for the Blaugrana till date winning five trophies.
