Barcelona made a late comeback against Newcastle United to clinch a 1-1 draw in the first leg of UEFA Champions League Round of 16, on Wednesday, March 11.

The clash was pretty interesting right from the first minute, Newcastle players were dominating the Spanish club. The crowd at the St. James Park was heavily booing the Barca players and it was evident from their performance as well.

It was in the 86th minute when Newcastle's Harvey Barnes broke the deadlock and it seemed that it was a winner, but things took a quick turn when Dani Olmo won a penalty in stoppage time, near the final third.

Lamine Yamal stepped up to take the penalty, and scored it with a simple finish on the left side of the goalkeeper. The goal led to a draw and the winner will be decided in the second leg of the tie at Barcelona's Camp Nou.

Newcastle dominated Barcelona in the attack, as the English club took 16 shots and five of them were on target. On the other hand, Barca managed to take 10 shots and only three of them were on target.

Meanwhile, Barcelona managed to get 54 percent of the ball possession as compared to Newcastle United's 46 percent. The Spanish club completed 327 successful passes in the game, whereas Newcastle had 217 successful passes.
