Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko on a permanent transfer, as per The Athletic transfer expert, David Ornstein. The Slovenia player has been granted permission to travel to Manchester for his medical before completing his transfer.

New destination for Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United have improved their attack line this summer, signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford respectively. However, Ruben Amorim was keen on including a new striker as well, settling for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

They faced tough competition from Newcastle, with the latter searching for a new striker due to Alexander Isak being linked with Liverpool. The Magpies reportedly offered a total of €85 million to sign Sesko.

But Sesko wanted a move to Manchester United, despite having a great chance to play in the UEFA Champions League next season. This led to the Red Devils offering a deal worth €76.5 million and €8.5 million in add-ons. The 22-year-ol is all set to sign a five-year contract with the club.

Sesko will look to create an impact for Manchester United. He scored 39 goals and eight assists in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig across all competitions.

After the completion of Benjamin Sesko's signing, Manchester United are keen on getting a new defensive midfielder and goalkeeper ahead of the new season. While Carlos Baleba's transfer fee may force them to consider other options, the Red Devils are linked with Ederson and Douglas Luiz this summer.
