Jude Bellingham has been dropped from the England squad, and this decision has caused a stir. The Real Madrid star was one of the biggest names left out of the team, alongside teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold and Phil Foden of Manchester City. Meanwhile, the German football manager has defended his decision and given a justification for those questioning.
Thomas Tuchel cites New England Patriots’ influence for leaving Jude Bellingham out of World Cup squad
However, it's the Los Blancos midfielder’s omission which drew the most attention. Earlier, after the English side were defeated by Senegal with a score of 3-1 in June, Tuchel praised Bellingham but also called his behaviour “repulsive” at times. However, the football manager later apologised and explained that it was not intentional.
Following this, fans doubt if the exclusion of the 22-year-old player might be more than just because of his fitness and injury issues recently. Meanwhile, Tuchel has defended his decision and stated that he will only include Bellingham, Foden and Jack Grealish in the squad if it will be an advantage for the team. As per a report in the Daily Mail, the 52-year-old manager said that they will have to “ arrive as a team” or they will have “no chance.”
Tuchel said he recently watched the New England Patriots documentary and it inspired him. He, as per the same source mentioned above, stated:
‘I just watched a documentary of the New England Patriots and saw a quote that said: “We don't collect the most talented players, we build a team”.
Tuchel got so influenced by the quote that he is now trying to build a team instead of playing just talented players. He said:
“Teams win trophies, no one else.”
The English team head coach wants to enter the World Cup as the “best team” and will be fielding a strong team against Wales. The team, however, will be without captain Harry Kane as he recovers from a foot injury.
