Real Madrid confirmed their place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, as they defeated Benfica in the second leg of their playoff at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, February 25.
Already having a 1-0 advantage from the first leg which took place in Lisbon, Real Madrid secured their place with a 2-1 win to progress 3-1 on aggregate.
Tricky first half
The clash saw an exciting first half, where Benfica's Rafa Silva scored a goal in the 14th minute to level the aggregate, but soon Madrid came back with an equaliser goal from Aurelien Tchouameni. The first half ended on a 1-1 score line.
Comeback from Real Madrid in the second half
The game progressed with a lot of tension, as Benfica missed a couple of key chances to score a goal. Real Madrid took full advantage of it, as Vinicius Jr scored the winner in the 80th minute of the game.
It was another typical comeback from Real Madrid, marking their ability to secure wins from crunch situations.
