Liverpool manager Arne Slot shared the exact same message that Jurgen Klopp sent him as the Reds lifted the Premier League trophy. They thrashed Tottenham Hotspurs 5-1 at Anfield as the former manager was ecstatic despite parting ways with the club last year.
What was Jurgen Klopp's text message to Arne Slot?
Arne Slot was speaking publicly for the first time after winning the title in his first season in England. Slot praised Jurgen Klopp during last Sunday's match and even thanked him for leaving such a talented squad that were able to fend off Arsenal at the top of the table.
After winning the title, Slot sang Klopp's name to the same tune that the latter coach did to give the Dutchman his public blessing during an emotional Anfield farewell 12 months ago.
During his pre-match press conference, Arne Slot revealed what was the text that Jurgen Klopp sent him after winning the title.
Most famous person who messaged me? I assume it was Jurgen! What did he say? Congratulations, now I know what a special club it is, I am part of history, this type of stuff, he was really happy for fans and the club.
As the Reds won their 20th League title, Klopp congratulated them on social media and wrote on his Instagram,
Super grateful for the past, super super happy about the present, extremely positive about the future. Congratulations -- YNWA [You'll never walk alone]. Thank you Luv.
As the final whistle was blown, Slot paid tribute to Klopp who built Liverpool squad. He was the one who changed the dynamics of the club during his tenure.
It feels great, I don't think I want to say a lot, the only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp, he told LFCTV.
So many moments in the season the two of us have had contact. I think he showed last season what a wonderful human being he is by introducing me. But what mattered most is the team he left behind that was able to win the trophy.
Liverpool didn't lift the title after beating Tottenham Hotspurs and will do the honors on the final day of the season, when they take on Crystal Palace. But, before that, they take on Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton.
Currently, Liverpool are first in the Premier League with 82 points to their name from 34 matches. Arsenal is second in the table with 67 points from 34 games.
