Messi seemingly hits back on Ronaldo’s World Cup & GOAT remarks
The Inter Miami superstar shared his emotions on winning the World Cup with Argentina, which fulfilled his dream. The former FC Barcelona player, who scored a brace in the final against France, was recently recognised as the guest of honor at the American Business Forum. He was presented with the “key to the city” by Miami’s mayor to give him a tribute. During the event, the 38-year-old said:
"With all due respect, because it has nothing to do with it, but when I won the World Cup at the professional level, I had the same feeling as when my children were born.”
The football legend continued:
“It's a feeling that's hard to explain, it's so special and so big that anything I say falls short.”
The 2022 Qatar World Cup winner further stated that it seemed like the country was desperate and “wanted this to happen again after so long,” the way everyone celebrated. He said:
“For me, it was special; winning the World Cup is the ultimate. After the World Cup, you can't ask for anything more.”
The No. 10 icon also added that “it was special” because, “for a player, winning the World Cup is the ultimate achievement.” Messi continued:
“There's nothing more after the World Cup.”
‘Won the Copa América…’: Messi seemingly replies to Ronaldo’s three titles with Portugal
Ronaldo previously stated during the Piers Morgan interview that he has won three titles with Portugal and, despite not winning the World Cup with his country, he wants to “enjoy the moment.” He also responded to the people who say that the former Manchester United legend would be the greatest if he wins the World Cup, saying he doesn't agree with such thoughts.
During the event above, Messi stated that he also won the Copa America with Argentina; however, winning the World Cup was something that completed him as a football player. The Argentine said:
“We had also won the Copa América with the national team. That was the missing piece. It was like closing out my entire career with that trophy."
Messi shared several highlights of his legendary career during his appearance and also shared excitement for the upcoming World Cup. On the other hand, Ronaldo believes Portugal can win the World Cup title. The next FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA in 2026, with 48 teams, which will run until July 19 with a blockbuster final.
