On Sunday at the DOME by NSCI in Mumbai, the Haryana Steelers displayed a remarkable defensive performance, securing a 41-35 victory over the Bengal Warriors. The Steelers' defensive trio, Mohit Nandal, Jaideep Dahiya, and Mohit, played a pivotal role by accumulating 12 tackle points, which ultimately made a significant difference in the match.
The game began with high intensity as Maninder Singh from the Warriors executed a Super Raid in the third minute, giving his team an early, albeit narrow, lead. For the next 15 minutes, the Steelers successfully contained Maninder, preventing him from scoring any raid points. Concurrently, the Steelers' raiders steadily accumulated points, overtaking the Warriors.
Towards the end of the first half, the Warriors' defense intensified their efforts, gradually diminishing the Steelers' numbers. Maninder then capitalized on this momentum, leading to the first All-Out of the game and helping the Warriors secure a 17-13 lead at halftime.
The second half saw an immediate response from the Steelers, with Vinay's dynamic raiding contributing to an All-Out and propelling them into a two-point lead. The match continued to be closely contested, with neither team able to establish a significant advantage. The scores were evenly matched entering the final quarter of the game.
In the last segment of the match, the Warriors' raiders put pressure on the Steelers, reducing their numbers on the mat. However, a series of Super Tackles by the Steelers not only prevented an All-Out but also maintained their slender one-point lead. This defensive strategy proved to be a game-changer. Subsequently, Siddharth Desai, coming off the bench, executed a Super Raid, extending the Steelers' lead.
The match's conclusion was intense, with the Steelers showcasing their defensive resilience. Despite dwindling numbers, they managed to execute Super Tackles to preserve their lead. In contrast, the Warriors, striving for an All-Out to gain control, were unable to break through. In the final minute, Shivam Patare’s Super Raid for the Steelers extended their lead to seven points with three players remaining on the mat, clinching the victory for Haryana Steelers in a thrilling finish.
