As the F1 circus moves on to the next race at the iconic Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese Grand Prix, all eyes will be on whether Ferrari can recover from their Chinese GP woes.

The 2025 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix has significantly impacted the championship standings, with McLaren emerging as the dominant force following their impressive 1-2 finish. Lando Norris, who secured second place behind race-winner Oscar Piastri, extended his lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship. Meanwhile, McLaren’s flawless performance created a comfortable gap in the Constructors' Championship.

Norris Strengthens Grip on Drivers Championship

The push for Lando Norris has been irrespective of winning races. Only by being consistent will he be able to maintain his stronghold this year. His second position, after a strong start in the season, allowed him to ride 44 points and so remained ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who is now second with 36 points. With 35 points, Mercedes' George Russell is still close in third, while Piastri's victory in China leaped him into fourth with 34 points, thus putting him firmly back in the fray after a dismal season opener in Australia.

Ferrari Struggles Continue, Leclerc, and Hamilton Feet Behind

Ferrari were left in despair over the weekend with Hamilton and Leclerc both disqualified from the Chinese GP by Ferrari. Consequently, Hamilton, having finished 6th before his disqualification, is now 9th overall, with 9 points, while Leclerc is just behind him on tenth with 8 points. All these events left Ferrari in despair in both Drivers' and Constructors' Championships, adding further to their early-season woes.

Haas Surging Up the Standings After Some Great Performance

After a great weekend in Shanghai, Haas had Esteban Ocon, who, with the help of a strong finish, took his team off the last spot on the Constructors' Standings into the seventh position. Ocon's performance put him in seventh position in the Drivers' Championship, accruing ten points, while his teammate Oliver Bearman scored his first points of the season with a 4-point haul into twelfth.

McLaren Expands Lead in Constructors' Championship

A 1-2 finish in China secured McLaren an extended lead in Constructors' Championship with 78 points in the bag, creating a huge buffer against the rest. Closely behind are Mercedes and Red Bull, but the early start of McLaren has set the tone for what promises to be a competitive season.
