Australian F1 racer Oscar Piastri won the Belgian Grand Prix 2025 and beat his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Piastri began the race behind Norris, but made a crucial overtake early on and led the race till the end. Former F1 champion Damon Hill has reacted to Piastri's victory at Spa Francorchamps.

Piastri was looking to have an edge over Lando Norris in the qualifying sessions for the Belgian GP as the Australian race beat his teammate by six-tenths in the sprint qualifying and finished ahead of him. But, the situation changed during the qualifying race as Norris beat Piastri to acquire the pole position.

The start of the Belgian GP was delayed due to rain, and the race began nearly 1.5 hours after the scheduled time. Just after three laps, the race got underway with a rolling start, which gave Norris an edge.

But, Oscar Piastri was able to get a good exit out of turn 1, kept the McLaren pinned through Eaur Rouge and Raidillon, and cruised past his teammate on the Kemmel straight during the first racing lap to take the lead.

During the last 10 laps, Norris began to decrease the lead of Piastri, while the Australian racer struggled quite a bit with tyre degradation on the softer tyre compound. Still, Piastri outperformed and won the race by over three seconds.

Damon Hill took to his X account (Formerly known as Twitter), and appreciated  Piastri's calm and collected driving even after the rising pressure from Norris and the degrading tires.

“Ocsar is cool as a cucumber," wrote Damon Hill.

Oscar Piastri's victory and Lando Norris' second finish meant that the Austrian racer added a seven points buffer to the Norris' in the championship, extending the lead to 16 points.
