Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have both been called before the Formula 1 stewards following a contentious on-track incident during the Hungarian Grand Prix. The clash, which occurred on lap 29 at Turn 4 of the Hungaroring, has raised questions over the legality of Verstappen’s overtaking manoeuvre.

Lap 29 drama: Max Verstappen vs Lewis Hamilton

The moment in question took place when Verstappen made an aggressive move up the inside of Hamilton at Turn 4. Though there was no apparent contact between the cars, Hamilton was forced to veer off track to avoid a collision. The move allowed Verstappen to gain track position, prompting immediate scrutiny from race control. Officials confirmed post-race that the incident would be investigated further.

Both drivers have since been summoned to provide their version of events to the stewards. Verstappen could face a potential penalty if the authorities conclude that he forced Hamilton off the circuit in breach of racing regulations.

Provisional results amid investigation

Verstappen, who finished ninth and claimed just two points for Red Bull, may see his result revised depending on the outcome of the inquiry. For now, the finish remains provisional.

Hamilton, meanwhile, endured a frustrating weekend. After a challenging qualifying session where he labelled his own performance as “useless,” the seven-time world champion crossed the line in 12th place, one lap behind the leaders, a disappointing end to an already difficult Grand Prix.

Norris triumphs, closes gap in title race

The race itself was won by McLaren’s Lando Norris, who executed a clever alternate strategy to clinch his fifth victory of the season and his third in the last four races.

Norris held off his team-mate and championship rival Oscar Piastri in a tense finale. The Australian nearly collided with Norris on the final lap after locking up during a desperate overtaking attempt, but ultimately had to back off.

The result tightens the title fight, with Norris now just nine points behind Piastri as the championship heads into the summer break.

Mercedes' George Russell secured third place on the podium, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who started on pole, faded in the closing stages and failed to mount a challenge for victory.
