Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured pole position for the sprint race at the United States Grand Prix, marking an end to his wait for pole. His closest title rival, Lando Norris, qualified fourth in his McLaren. Verstappen, leading Norris by 52 points with six races remaining, edged out Mercedes driver George Russell for pole by a mere 0.012 seconds in Austin. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed the third-fastest time, finishing 0.226 seconds behind Verstappen, while Norris was just 0.250 seconds off the pace in fourth.


Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes took seventh place, situated between Haas drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen. Meanwhile, Norris's teammate, Oscar Piastri, faced a setback by being eliminated in the first session due to a deleted lap time for exceeding track limits, starting the sprint from 16th. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez also struggled, getting knocked out in the second session and will start in 11th.

Verstappen expressed his satisfaction with the performance, stating, “That was good. We had a good day. Sprint qualifying is always difficult. You never know how much you can push, but the car was working well. Of course I’m very happy to be first, it’s been a while.”

Verstappen eying his fourth consecutive title
Max Verstappen, currently leading the Drivers Standing 2024, is the reigning United States Grand Prix champion. Max has won the US Grand Prix for three consecutive times in last three editions and the Red Bull driver is eying his fourth. He was piped down by Lando Norris in Singapore and Oscar Piastri in Azerbaijan bridging the gap , Max would like to return in form on a Austin Circuit he is familiar with and loves to race.
