After the completion of Day 4, the Indian contingent has managed to win two bronze medals, both coming in shooting starring Manu Bhaker. The 22-year-old opened India’s account with a bronze medal at the women’s individual 10m air pistol event on Day 2. She ended the drought of an Olympic medal for Indian shooters that lasted 12 years. After winning her first medal, she won another bronze medal at the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh on Day 4 of the Games.

Manu became the only Indian athlete of independent India to win two medals in the same edition of Olympics. She entered the elite list of Indian athletes – Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar and PV Sindhu –who have won two Olympic medals. Manu has a chance to win her third medal as she will compete in women's 25m air pistol event. She will be in action in the qualification on August 2. With the help of her two bronze medals India are currently 33rd in the list.
