The Paris Olympics 2024 will witness around 10,500 athletes participating from over 200 countries. The opening ceremony of the Games will take place on July 26 (Friday). The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. However, there are a few sport categories, which will start a day or two before the opening ceremony.
Rugby Sevens
Rugby's preliminary phase will begin on July 24 at Stade de France. However, the fixtures have not been revealed so far. On the next day men's placing 9-12 games and all four quarter-final matches will be played. A day after the ceremony the medal matches of men's rugby will be played as well.
Football group stage matches
On July 24, the men's football event will kick off. In the first match, the silver-medallist of the previous edition Spain will go up against Uzbekistan. As many as eight matches will be played on July 24 across seven stadiums.

On July 25, the women's football event will commence. In the opening encounter, Spain will lock horns with Japan at La Beaujoire Stadium. Six matches will be played on July 25 across six different venues.

Archery and Handball events to commence too
There are two other events that will kick off on the eve of the opening ceremony. On July 25, six matches of women's handball preliminary group stage matches will be played. Slovenia and Denmark will play in the first match of the event.
