The shooting contingent for India have managed to win yet another medal in the ongoing edition of the Asian Games on Friday, September 29. The trio of Esha Singh, Palak and Divya Subbaraju Thadigol secured the silver in the 10m Air Pistol Team Event after finishing behind China with 1731 points.
Esha and Palak will also be competing in the women's individual event.
The young team consisting of 18-year-old Esha (579), Palak (577), and Divya TS (575) combined for a score of 1731 points, securing a silver medal. China clinched the gold with a remarkable Asian Games record score of 1736 points. Chinese Taipei earned the bronze with a total of 1723 points.
Earlier, Esha secured a silver in the women's individual 25m pistol event on Wednesday. Additionally, in the women's 25m pistol team event on the same day, the trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha, and Rhythm Sangwan collaborated to win the gold medal.
India continued its triumphant streak in shooting with Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran clinching the gold medal in the men's 5 rifle 3 positions event, registering a score of 1769. Both Kusale and Tomar secured spots for the individual event, with Kusale leading the qualification round with an impressive 591 points and Tomar closely following in second place. Their collective efforts contributed to India's seventh gold medal at the ongoing Hangzhou tournament.
Furthermore, India surpassed its previous best in shooting at the Asian Games. While they secured 14 shooting medals in Doha in 2006, the victory in the men's 5 rifle 3 positions event set a new benchmark for the nation in a single edition of the Asian Games.
