Islam Makhachev demands a harsher penalty, escalating the fallout from the UFC 322 altercation.

The long-standing friction between Dillon Danis and members of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team erupted once again at UFC 322 in New York, drawing attention away from the fights and pulling the spotlight toward the stands. What began as a routine night for fans inside Madison Square Garden quickly morphed into another confrontation involving Danis, whose track record of provocation has consistently placed him at the center of unwanted drama.

Witnesses at the event reported a sudden commotion in the crowd during the main card, where multiple individuals were seen exchanging strikes in a chaotic altercation. Danis, who has a history of animosity with the Dagestani fighters, was immediately identified as one of the catalysts behind the fracas. The melee prompted rapid intervention by security personnel and police officials, who ultimately neutralized the situation before it could further escalate.

Dana White responds with a lifetime ban

UFC President Dana White addressed the incident during his post-event press conference, confirming swift disciplinary action against the controversial figure. According to White, Dillon Danis is now barred from attending or participating in any UFC-organized events moving forward—an unprecedented step that underscores the severity of the ongoing tensions and Danis’ consistent involvement in off-cage disruptions.

White’s decision marked one of the strongest punishments ever imposed on an individual not actively competing under the UFC banner. Yet even that, it seems, was not enough for some within the MMA community.

Islam Makhachev pushes for a stronger penalty

Islam Makhachev, who secured another milestone victory at UFC 322 while attempting to expand his legacy beyond lightweight dominance, offered an unapologetically firm stance on the matter. Reflecting on the earlier altercation that resulted in his teammates being forced to leave the venue ahead of his bout, Makhachev did not hold back.

“When you talk about someone like (the) last five years…when you meet them, you have to answer (for) what you said, you know? Today, I don’t think he answered.

“He’s still saying a lot of bad things about our team. Today, he was coming and somebody just meet him. He talked about these guys bad, and today they meet him.

“He has to (be) banned from this country also,” he added when asked about Dana White removing Dillon Danis’ access to future UFC events.

Islam Makhachev’s comments echoed the longstanding frustration shared across the Dagestani camp, who have repeatedly clashed with Danis both verbally and physically over the past decade. The champion’s call for an escalated punishment suggests that the rivalry, far from settling, may intensify in the aftermath of UFC 322.

With a lifetime UFC ban now official and calls for government-level action gaining traction online, Dillon Danis faces yet another significant setback in a career overshadowed more by confrontation than competition.
