Indian table tennis teams showcased impressive form at the Asian Games opener, with both men's and women's squads clinching victories in their preliminary group matches. The men's team displayed dominance over Yemen and Singapore, while the women emerged victorious against Singapore.

The men's team, exuding confidence, delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Yemen. They followed it up by conquering Singapore with a 3-1 win in their Group F tie. The stalwarts of the men's team, Sharath Kamal, G Sathiyan, and Harmeet Desai, exhibited clinical performances against the Yemenese opponents, effortlessly securing straight-game wins.

Initiating the momentum, G Sathiyan dominated his game against Ali Omar Ahmed, ending the match with scores of 11-3, 11-2, and 11-6 in just 14 minutes. Sharath Kamal, a seasoned 41-year-old playing his concluding Asian Games, replicated Sathiyan's dominance by defeating Ebrahim Abdulhakim Mohamm Gubran with 11-3, 11-4, and 11-6. India's top-ranked paddler, Harmeet Desai, rounded off the perfect start with a remarkable 11-1, 11-1, and 11-7 victory over Magd Ahmed Ali Aldhubhani.

Facing Singapore in their second tie of the day, India's resilience was tested. While Sathiyan registered a win over Izaac Young Quek, Harmeet had to harness his deeper reserves to overcome Yew En Koen Pang. Despite Sharath Kamal's setback against Zhe Yu Clarence Chew, Sathiyan returned to seal India's triumph by defeating Pang.

On the women's front, the Indian paddlers faced an intense battle against Singapore, eventually clinching a 3-2 victory in their Pool F encounter. The opening game witnessed a minor hiccup with Ayhika Mukherjee losing to Jian Zeng. However, Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula steered India back into contention with their respective wins. Although Batra faced a subsequent defeat against Zeng, Mukherjee rose to the occasion, ensuring a positive conclusion for the Indian women by defeating Jingyi Zhou.

The road ahead promises more exhilarating table tennis action, with the Indian men's team prepping to challenge Tajikistan, and the women's team gearing up to battle against Nepal in their subsequent group matches.

As India's paddlers continue to represent the nation at the Asian Games, their initial victories have not only bolstered the country's medal prospects but have also ignited hope and anticipation among fans and enthusiasts alike. Their performances underscore India's emerging prowess in table tennis on the global stage.
