Recently, the iconic stadium hosted the World Para Athletics Championships, featuring over 2,200 participants from more than 100 countries, competing in 186 medal events. India who hosted the event for first time have clinched 22 medals, including 6 Gold, 9 Silver, and 7 Bronze, which was the best ever performance.

India has now become the fourth Asian country, after Qatar, the UAE, and Japan, to host the World Para Athletics Championships. In previous editions, India had won 9 medals in 2019 (Dubai), 10 medals in 2023 (Paris), and 17 medals in 2024 (Kobe).
