Not Khabib Nurmagomedov! Tom Aspinall Reckons This Undefeated Fighter Could Dethrone Jon Jones as the Undisputed GOAT of UFC

The UFC Heavyweight Interim champion, Tom Aspinall, who is regarded as the biggest threat to Jon Jones' legacy as an undefeated fighter, has picked a name who could leapfrog the Heavyweight champion to emerge as the new GOAT in the UFC. Interestingly, Aspinall snubbed himself for the spot and brought another champion into the reckoning. Jon Jones, who returned to the Octagon in November at UFC 309, outclassed Stipe Miocic to retain the Heavyweight title strap. Since then, there is uncertainly lying on the future of the consensus GOAT of UFC.

Tom Aspinall Nominates Ilia Topuria as the Potential Fighter Who Could Dethrone Jon Jones

There are assertions that Jon Jones could return to the Octagon once again and will take on Tom Aspinall, to end all the doubts once and for all. UFC CEO Dana White also desires for the contest to take place and expects that the fight will materialise in 2025. However, aside from hinting at a return, Jones has also teased that he is quite content with how his career has panned out and will hold no qualms should he walk away from the sport at this stage. 

In the midst of all the speculations regarding whether Jon Jones will ever return to the 8-sided ring again or not, Jones' potential opponent Tom Aspinall is off the opinion that Jon Jones' stature as the GOAT is not invincible, and Ilia Topuria stands a valid chance to dethrone the current UFC Heavyweight Champion from the tag.

Jon Jones Is Invincible

Ilia Topuria, who is the current UFC Featherweight Champion, is an undefeated fighter much like Jon Jones. The El Matador is 16-0 in the sport and has beaten some of the biggest names in the division to stand as the undisputed holder of the strap. Wins over former champions Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway are already under his resume, and it will be intriguing to witness what's next in store for him.

There are assertions that Topuria could climb up the weight ladder and challenge Islam Makhachev in order to vie for the ambitious status of being the double champion. Should the fight happen in the future and Topuria find a way to get the better of the current Pound-For-Pound No.1 then parallels between him and Jones could really be drawn. However, as Jon Jones has defied the stereotypes of the sport and kept evolving to remain at the top, it is hard to debate whether any fighter would ever be able to replicate what Jones has achieved inside the Octagon.
