While Mysterio has yet to confirm a retirement timeline, his reflections suggest that his in-ring career is nearing its final chapter.

During an interview on Unlikely with Adrien Hernandez, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio discussed his thoughts on retirement and whether he would follow a similar path to John Cena by announcing it in advance.

Mysterio shared that he is open to making such an announcement, acknowledging the significance it holds for his loyal fanbase.

“I would love to make an announcement. I would love for the fans who have grown up watching me and supported my career from day one, of which there are still many around, to be able to say, ‘This is the last time I’m going to get to see him perform. I want to go take a look.’ I want to give the opportunity to those fans that have been loyal from day one.”

 Coming to Terms with Retirement

The legendary luchador admitted that initially, he considered retiring without a formal announcement. However, as time passed, he realized the difficulty of making that decision.

“Prior to that, I would think, ‘I’m just going to retire one day,’ but it’s a hard thing to do when you start thinking about it. I know that time is a lot closer than it was yesterday. I have to prep myself up mentally. I do that slowly, especially now that Cena is doing his last run.”

Mysterio noted that watching Cena’s farewell run has given him perspective on what it might feel like to step away from the ring.

“I’m kind of looking at him and trying to get that understanding of what it feels like. He’s going into Hollywood and doing his thing, he has a great thing going on. For me, I’ve always loved and only done wrestling. Once I leave wrestling, I think about what I’m going to do next.”

 John Cena’s Final WWE Year

John Cena, who is in his last year as an in-ring performer, recently competed at the Royal Rumble, making what was likely his final appearance at the event. Cena has been transitioning into Hollywood but remains committed to giving fans a proper sendoff before officially retiring from WWE.

Mysterio Prepares for Logan Paul Showdown

As discussions around his retirement continue, Mysterio remains active in competition. He is set to face Logan Paul on the February 10 edition of WWE Raw in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match. The bout is expected to be a high-stakes contest as both competitors vie for a spot in the prestigious match at the upcoming pay-per-view event.

 Looking Ahead

While Mysterio has yet to confirm a retirement timeline, his reflections suggest that his in-ring career is nearing its final chapter. Whether he chooses to go out with a grand farewell tour or a single, shocking moment remains to be seen. One thing is certain—his legacy as one of WWE’s most iconic superstars will endure long after he hangs up his mask.
