Recent reports suggest a potential showdown between Cena and social media star turned WWE competitor Logan Paul. Despite a relatively brief but impressive career in WWE, Paul has received substantial push since his debut, including a high-profile match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. In November 2022, he won the United States Championship, holding it for an impressive 273 days before losing it to LA Knight at SummerSlam 2024.

 

According to WrestleVotes, WWE is actively planning a match between Cena and Paul, and internal speculation about the bout has intensified. There’s considerable enthusiasm from Triple H and his team regarding this matchup, with many believing it could generate significant revenue for the company.

Logan Paul has consistently expressed his desire to face John Cena, stating in interviews that sharing the ring with him would be an honor. Cena has reciprocated this admiration; in a recent documentary with Paul, he remarked that WWE should have discovered Paul sooner because he is an exceptional talent.

 

As fans eagerly await confirmation of this potential match, the prospect of Cena and Paul clashing in the ring holds promise for an exhilarating encounter, making it one of the most anticipated events in WWE history. 

 

Cena plans to wrestle during entire year of 2025 and is targeting around 36 dates with WWE as quoted by media reports.

Cena's retirement

One of the most popular WWE stars in the world, John Cena has announced that he will retire from in-ring competitions in 2025. Cena is all set to aid a goodbye to his iconic career that lasted for 20 years in the ring. Cena is a 16-time WWE Champion, who made his debut in year 2002 and was popular among fans for his iconic “you can’t see me” move. 
 

He announced his retirement by making a surprise appearance at the “Money in the Bank’ event in Toronto on July 6. He hit the ring with an altered version of his iconic and love catchphrase “My Time is now” to “The last time is now”. His shirt too read “John Cena Farewell Tour”. As soon as Cena started to speak, the Toronto crowd got emotional pre-empting the situation and erupted with chants of “No! No! No!”
 

‘WrestleMania will be my last’ 

“Tonight, I officially announce my retirement from WWE," said the 47-year-old. He later clarified that it wouldn't retire with immediate effect but in 2025 he will hang his boots. Cena said he will compete in the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber for the last time and then at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium.

 

 

“RAW makes history next year when it moves to Netflix I've never been a part of Raw on Netflix that is history that is a first and I will be there and along with that history making first we are going to build so many unforgettable laughs,” he added.
