Boris Becker's Invaluable Advice to Carlos Alcaraz
Boris Becker has urged Carlos Alcaraz to take his presence on the court as a marathon rather than a sprint. "this isn't a sprint, your life is a marathon". This could prove to be a mantra for the 21-year-old to further succeed and attain ginormous milestones.
Alcaraz has had a rollercoaster of a start to the 2025 season, winning his first indoor hardcourt title at the ABN AMRO Open and also emerging victorious at the Monte-Carlo Masters. However, he also had to face disappointments. He suffered a loss to Novak Djokovic in the semifinal of the Australian Open 2025 and also had no success in Qatar and Miami Open. Moreover, he was forced to withdraw from the Madrid Open due to leg injuries.
Alacaraz's inconsistency on the court has caused fans and experts to worry about the well-being of the Spaniard. Boris Becker is among those voicing their concerns, as he suggested Alcaraz and his team take a vital step back in case the incessant play is taking a toll on mental health.
The 3-time Wimbledon winner paid heed to the concerns related to Carlos Alcaraz after the young sensation confessed that he had thought about taking a little hiatus from the sport following his first-round exit in Miami.
Speaking on his podcast, the 57-year-old said: "We're talking about a 21-year-old who couldn't cope with the expectations and the pressure anymore. We're talking about mental health. Someone like that almost reached the point of depression."

Boris Becker is a Well-Wisher of Carlos Alcaraz
Becker then demanded those surrounding Alcaraz to meddle and help the youngster to aptly manage his professional commitments with more care. He also urged the athlete to learn to "say no".
He said: "So those around him have to ask themselves, 'Haven't we done something wrong?' Demanding too much of such a young player? He almost has to act like a machine... it's hard to say no.
"We have to protect Carlos from himself. But the point is that you can see that he's overexerting himself, he does too much, and I really hope that whether it's his coach or his manager or his father, they need to (communicate), because we still need him in 10 years.
"He's the most spectacular player on the tour right no
w, he gets the most spectators in, has the largest fanbase, but he can't play every week."
Becker then shared a personal moment between himself and Alcaraz at the Laureus Awards in April, where he told the youngster: "This isn't a sprint, your life is a marathon."
However, it seems this warning may not be able to influence him, as Alcaraz replied with a smile: "You're right. Talk to my people."
