It was a super happy slam for Roger Federer fans as the Swiss maestro returned at the Australian Open this year to hit the Rod Laver Arena court on Friday. Federer has won six majors in Melbourne, and this was the first time that the former World No. 1 was playing in six years surrounded by a massive crowd.

The tennis legend played an exhibition match against four-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud, defeating the 27-year-old with a score of 7-2 in a stadium full of fans. The 20-time Grand Slam champion last appeared at the tournament in 2020, reaching the semifinals before he was defeated by Novak Djokovic.
Meanwhile, during the practice round against Ruud, Djokovic was in attendance, watching his greatest rivals in tennis. Federer also showcased some signature backhand shots on his return. The tennis icon has won five US Open and Wimbledon titles each and three in Australia, with one in the French Open.
Djokovic is one of the favourites to win his record-extending 25th major. Carlos Alcaraz will attempt to win his maiden title in Melbourne while two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner hopes to complete his three-peat.
