World No.1 Jannik Sinner got the best off 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-final of Wimbledon to secure a spot in the finals. This was the first time Sinner reached the finals at Wimbledon. He put an end to Djokovic's dominant six consecutive finals run at Wimbledon, dating back to 2018. The Italian will now go up against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday, July 13th.
Who is Jannik Sinner's coach at Wimbledon?
Jannik Sinner will be featuring in his fourth finals on the trot, a streak which started last year when he won the US Open. He was successful defending his Australian Open title at the start of the season but fell short at the hands of Alcaraz in the French Open finals. The Italian will be eyeing to take his revenge in Sunday's blockbuster encounter. He will be assisted by none other than coach Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi.
Vagnozzi joined Sinner's camp in February 2022 after he moved on from his long-time coach Riccardo Piatti. Five months later, Cahill joined his team as a co-coach. The Aussie has been privileged enough to have worked with stars including Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray, Ana Ivanovic and Simona Halep, among others.
Sinner's fitness trainer is Marco Panichi and physiotherapist is Ulises Badio, the latter joined his camp in September 2024. The three-time Grand Slam winner also works with osteopath Andrea Cipolla. With all the support backing him, he will be looking to clinch his first ever Wimbledon title.
Jannik Sinner eyeing to win his first Wimbledon title
The 23-year-old will try to win his first Wimbledon title, surprisingly it will be his first on a non-hardcourt. It's just the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who is standing between him and the title and it's going to be an uphill task for the Italian.
While Sinner has dominated the rest of the tour, Alcaraz has been the only thorn in his side during this time. The Italian had an impressive 73-6 record last year, but three of those losses came at the hands of Alcaraz.
Sinner has a 25-3 record this year and once again, Alcaraz is the reason behind the majority of his losses. The Spaniard first got the better off him in the Italian Open final and then few weeks later in the French Open.
The World No.1 has lost last five matches against Alcaraz. The head to head between them is led 8-4 by the Spaniard.
