Minnesota Timberwolves star has received concerning news amid the tightly played NBA Playoffs. Star player Anthony Edwards has been diagnosed with a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, sources told ESPN.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards suffers knee injury in Game 4 win over Nuggets
Medical imaging ruled out any ligament damage, including a feared ACL tear, providing significant relief for the team and fans after the injury occurred during Saturday night's Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets.
Edwards went down late in the second quarter of Minnesota's 112-96 victory while contesting a layup attempt by Denver's Cameron Johnson. He landed awkwardly, causing his left knee to hyperextend, and was helped off the court in visible discomfort.
The Timberwolves already led the first-round series 3-1 heading into the game, but the injury compounds a devastating night that also saw starting guard Donte DiVincenzo suffer a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon just minutes into the contest. It will be a huge loss for the side even though they currently lead the first-round series.
