The Denver Nuggets are hit with Nikola Jokic’s injury as the three-time NBA MVP will sit out for at least four weeks. The NBA center sustained an injury to his left knee in the first half during the Nuggets’ 123-147 loss against the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The player and the franchise were awaiting the results of his MRI scan before determining the severity of the injury.
Nikola Jokic out at least four weeks with left knee hyperextension
NBA Insider Shams Charania has revealed a big blow for the franchise and the player as Jokic has been diagnosed with a “hyperextension in his left knee.” The ESPN journalist stated that the seven-time NBA All-Star “will miss at least four weeks.”
Charani also revealed:
“An immense sigh of relief as tests show the three-time NBA MVP's knee ligaments are intact.”
Jokic sustained the injury following a misstep from a teammate with about three seconds left until halftime. The Nuggets star was under the basket, where he stepped forward to power teammate Spencer Jones defend a dive by Jaime Jaquez Jr. The Heat forward drove into the paint and bumped Jones, forcing him to step backwards, and collided with teammate Jokic.
The 30-year-old went down in pain, grabbing his knee,s before he left the court, limping, in the first half. The Serbian international did not return for the second half. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are set to face the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, January 1, 2026. David Adelman’s side is 3rd in the Western Conference with a 22-10 record.
