Story Highlights:

Viral claim about Gabe Vincent donating $134,146 to ICE debunked as parody, no official confirmation found.

Vincent shifts focus to player safety after Luka Dončić’s dangerous fall in Lakers’ loss to Cavaliers.

Gabe Vincent is one of those players who faces criticism because of his basketball skills but not his off-court actions. However, on Sunday, an X post claimed that the Lakers star had donated a game's earnings to the ICE amid the ongoing slamming against the government organization.

Gabe Vincent donated $134,146 to ICE?

The ICE is going through a public criticism for the fatal shooting of Renee Good by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, Jonathan Ross. The X post says that Vincent donated $134,146, his match earnings from the Lakers' 112-100 loss against the Knicks, on Sunday, to the government organization.

"America needs secure borders. ICE plays a critical role in keeping our communities safe and deserves full support," Vincent said as per the X post.

However, the claim turned out to be a fraud one as the X account that posted the news is a parody account. There is no official source backing the donation or Vincent's statements. Despite being a fraudulent claim, the post has fooled many fans. It has gained over 250,000 impressions on X.

There has been an increase in such false claims since the criticism against the ICE started. On Thursday. a post reported that LeBron James had donated $50,000 to the government organisation.

Gabe Vincent calls for change

The LA Lakers suffered a 129-99 defeat against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday and during the game Luka Doncic had a dangerous fall because of an irregular elevation on the court at Rocket Arena.

The Lakers are lucky as Doncic did get seriously hurt after the fall. After the defeat, Gabe Vincent called for changes to be made for improved player safety.

"It's tough to see another player get hurt on this court, with the fall, with the drop off, so hopefully something can get fixed with that, but we're fortunate that (Doncic) is OK," he said.

Doncic amassed 29 points in the defeat, while Gabe Vincent came off the bench to produce 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field and 3 of 5 from the 3-point range.
